LABORATORY OF
MATERIALS FOR
CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
MAT4LL Research Group
The MAT4LL Research Group is leaded by Prof. Verónica Pino as PI of the group and Prof. Jorge Pasán as
co-PI of the group. It is a multidisciplinary group with the Analytical Applications research line leaded by Prof.
Pino and the Materials research line leaded by Prof. Pasán. This grpups was formed in 2013 after merging the
analytical chemistry group QAAMA (leaded then by Profs. V. González and A.M. Afonso) and the material
science group MATMOL (leaded then by Prof. C. Ruiz-Pérez).
OUR PROJECT
The ultimate purpose of the MAT4LL Research group is to design new, smart, sustainable, selective and efficient materials to be used in
sample preparation methods for environmental, food and bioclinical analysis. The group has adopted an interdisciplinary approach
including not only analytical researchers but physics scientists and collaborations with organic chemists and parasitology research groups.
The developed projects mainly deal with the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks, ionic liquids and polymers, their physicochemical
characterization, their incorporation in microextraction strategies together with the study of the interactions between the materials and
the target analytes to improve the material designing step. In conclusion, our goal is the design of Materials For ALL!
